NEW DELHI -- Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday accepted minister of food processing industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal's resignation from the cabinet.

"The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Harsimrat Kaur Badal from the union council of ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution," reads an order from president. (India-Minister-Resignation)

BRASILIA -- Brazil's Prosecutor General Augusto Aras was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Thursday, his press office has said.

TRIPOLI -- The United Nations (UN) welcomes the decision by Fayez Serraj, the UN-backed Libyan prime minister, to step down by the end of October, according to a UN statement released Thursday.

"I commend the courageous decision by Mr. Fayez Serraj, the president of the Presidency Council of the Government of National Accord, in announcing his intention to hand over power to a new executive authority by the end of October," Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General to Libya Stephanie Williams said in the statement. ABUJA -- The Nigerian government said on Thursday that following the national response to COVID-19, the curve of the pandemic is beginning to flatten in the country.
