ABUJA, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Three persons have been killed following an attack by unidentified gunmen who invaded a community in Nigeria's northern state of Bauchi, the police said on Thursday.

The gunmen invaded the Yadagungume community of Ningi local government area of the state on Wednesday, shooting dead two persons, injuring one, and abducting another, said Ahmed Wakil, a spokesman for the police in Bauchi in a statement.

Wakil said the abducted victim was later found dead in another location in the state.

The police had already released the bodies of the three dead victims to their families for burial, he said.

Wakil said the police have launched an investigation into the attack, noting policemen at the Yadagungume community had found and recovered 13 empty shells of AK-47. The suspects are still at large.
