YAOUNDE, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon army said on Sunday its troops have rescued eight hostages in the country's North region.
The rescue mission was carried out by Cameroon's elite force, Rapid Intervention Battalion after gunmen kidnapped eight people including women in Baoudi locality of the region overnight into Sunday.
All rescued hostages were safe, the army said without further details.
Baoudi is located in Mayo-Rey division of the region that has been plagued by rampant abductions in the last two months.
At least 30 people including women and children have been kidnapped in the locality since May, according to security reports.
