TRIPOLI, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The 2026 Military Intelligence Chiefs' Conference of Sahel and Mediterranean Countries kicked off Monday in Tripoli, with broad participation from military and security leaders from several neighboring Arab and African states.
Prime Minister of Libya's Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh inaugurated the conference, calling terrorism in the Sahel and Africa "a growing threat" that exploits security gaps and conflict.
In a statement, Dbeibeh said regional security "is a collective responsibility that cannot be achieved individually," adding that success in addressing cross-border threats depends on strengthening intelligence coordination, timely information exchange, and trust building.
The conference agenda focuses on joint strategies against cyber threats, regional security, counter-terrorism, and intelligence coordination to combat smuggling and transnational crime.
